Beekeeping in Australia continued

A Commercial Honey Producers Operation

Rosemary and Irwyn Doherty operate around 700 hives and are based at Mudgee a country town west of Sydney. Rosemary has and still is very active in industry affairs. She is a Director on the Board of Capilano Pty Ltd, the largest honey packer in the southern hemisphere and recently stepped down as a member of the Honey Bee R & D Committee.

The Dohertys were featured a number of years ago in an episode "Follow the Flow" of "Country Wide" an ABC TV series. This program showed the life of a migratory beekeeper. They have since built a modern central extracting plant.

During the winter they travel each year up into the channel country of south west Queensland to work 'Napunyah' a native eucalypt.
